The True Bread From Heaven

In John chapter 6, Jesus identifies Himself as the "true bread", the "bread of God", the "living bread" and the "bread of life".  He, as the true bread: (1) fulfills the type of the OT manna, (2) was given by God the Father, (3) came from heaven, (4) is provided for the whole world, (5) satisfies permanently, and (6) gives eternal life.  Most importantly, each person must individually feed upon Christ by faith for salvation.

What Food Are You Working For?

Jesus challenged His hearers not to work for the perishing food of this world but instead to obtain the eternal food of salvation in Himself.  He also specified that this eternal food is (1) only available as a gift from Christ and (2) must be received by faith in Him. Christians are often spiritually anemic because they invest too much toward worldly concerns and too little toward eternal, heavenly treasures.
